The Underground City

Beneath Montreal, Canada, lies a sewer system encompassing a combined distance of over 5,000 kilometers. With some sections dating back to 1832, this network offers a unique framework through which one can explore a city and its history.

The following map depicts some of the infrastructure that transfers Montreal's sewage and rainwater and that also encapsulates numerous creeks that formerly flowed at surface level.

All paths are approximate and have been simplified where required.
